New, and live at both our schools

School paperwork, written together.

Infoiles Docs is a word processor, a spreadsheet and a presentation editor in the browser. It opens and saves Word, Excel and PowerPoint files, so nothing you already have needs converting, and two teachers can work on the same question paper at once.

Staff at our schools: Docs is under Apps in Infoiles Ed's sidebar.

What it does

The school's paperwork, without files flying about.

Everything the office and the staff room write, in one editor, kept in one place.

Word, Excel and PowerPoint files

Opens .docx, .xlsx and .pptx files and saves them back in the same format. Older .doc, .xls and .ppt files open too.

Edit together

Several people can work on the same file at the same time and see each other's changes as they type.

Earlier versions kept

Look back at an earlier version of a file, name the important ones so they are kept, and bring an old one back if you need it.

Templates for school work

A letter on your letterhead, a circular, a lesson plan, a question paper; a marks register, an attendance register, a fee tracker or a class timetable.

Share with the right people

Share with a colleague, a class or all staff, and choose whether they can view, comment or edit.

A PDF in one click

Download any file as a PDF to print or send on, or in its own format.

Why it matters

No more final_v3_corrected.docx going round by email.

A question paper written by two teachers usually means three attachments and one confused photocopier. In Docs there is one file, and it is always the latest.

One copy, always current

Open it from Drive, from an email or from Docs: it is the same file, at its latest version.

Nothing to install

It runs in the browser, so an older staff-room computer does not need Microsoft Office installed to open a document.

Kept on our servers

Files stay on our own servers and open in an editor we run ourselves. Nobody needs a Google or Microsoft account.

Ready for the printer

Document templates are laid out for A4, and any file downloads as a PDF the office can print.

Three apps, one login

Mail, Drive and Docs work together.

Attach a file from Drive, open a Word attachment in Docs, and sign in once for all three with your Infoiles Ed login.

Good to know

Before you ask.

Edit on computers and tablets. On a phone, files open for reading.

The editor inside Docs is ONLYOFFICE, a widely used open-source editor, which we run on our own servers.

Files live in Drive, so they share Drive's folders, sharing and storage, and a file deleted by mistake can be restored for 30 days.

For schools on Infoiles Ed. Docs signs in with your Infoiles Ed accounts, so it comes with Ed rather than on its own.
